Originally, Peter Verburg is a business economist, who has grown into a result focused people manager in (often complex) change programs. His expertise is based on more than 20 years of experience in managing, advising and coaching (parts of) medium-sized businesses. This experience has made him into both a generalist and a specialist. In many situations and on different levels in an organisation.
The change programs that Peter manages are mostly aimed at a specific improvement and/or novation in an organisation. The success of a change program will profit from vital people. But a group of vital people does not make a vital organisation. That usually takes more. And that is what Peter is good at. Whether it is about market development, human communication, conduct of business, or finances in the context of ‘thinking and doing more with the market in mind’.
Peter’s leadership style is a mix of enterprising, coaching, structuring, and persuasion. Depending on the situation and always aimed at realising plans. He develops in the desired direction, if possible with the participants in an organisation (business and support). He often uses the Creational Spiral, developed by Marinus Knoope, and the growth model of Matthijs Vermoolen (‘Vat op Vitaliteit’). Controlling and using conflicts is his ‘way of life’ (mediation).
Until 1998, he has gained a lot of working experience in the profit sector, and after that mostly in non-profit area’s: health care/welfare, education, media (broadcasting), the central and municipal government, and regulatory government. His experience in many different non-profit area’s makes him well at home in other cultures, in which the ‘soul’ (the social, soft) is often too dominant, and a healthy doses of ‘sense of business’ (aimed at the market, tough) often needs to be developed, without jeopardizing the ‘soul’. He has been successful at this both in interim management and process and project management and has proven to be at home real fast in new surroundings. Enabling both people and organisations to realise success. That is Peter’s passion. And that is why he joined STRATCH as a creation professional.
