|
|
A vital organisation and a healthy work environment have the following cultural characteristics. These can be considered core ingredients for the success of a modern organisation, within an economy based on knowledge (based upon a November 2006 lecture of Alexander Rinnooy Kan, chairman of the main Dutch government advisory body on social/economic matters, SER):
-
The joint ambition is proven to be shared and carried by manager and employees.
- Long term goals typically are set, innovation is on project basis.
- The ability of fairly permanent discussion on organising and steering has been developed.
- Managers and employees alike are able to step aside from existing matters of routine and fixed patterns and paradigma’s.
- Employees participate in directing, preferably self directing and independence is stimulated.
- Board members, executives and management show coaching and facilitating leadership.
- Quality controlled, optimal working practises are achieved by diverse project teams (thereby preventing monoculture).
- Diversity in staff members is utilised for realising sustainable improvement.
- There will be room for private initiative, entrepreneurial attitude is stimulated and internal communication is promoted.
- Renumeration will be based on performance.
- Employees are encouraged to stick out their necks and there is a great willingness for self development.
- The organisation and its stakeholders are utilised in order to contribute to its success by means of knowledge, skills and creativity.
